The United States may have joined the First World War late in the game, but they jumped in with both feet and everything they had. They were short of everything, either selling it to their allies who had been at it for two years, or supplying their own troops. Future President Herbert Hoover got the gig of running the US Food Agency, which produced a lot of motivational posters that still hold up today.
