Bakery will bring authentic Cuban sandwiches to Brooklyn

A Miami-style Cuban bakery is Brooklyn-bound.

Pilar Cuban Eatery, in the borough’s Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood, is adding an “authentic” Cuban bakery. The 700-square-foot space, adjacent to the eatery, shares the same address at 397 Greene Ave. It will open in October and offer Cuban tamales, signature Cuban sandwiches and in-house baked bread.

The bakery will also have a take-out coffee window like similar ones in Miami’s Little Havana, where Cubans gather for coffee and politics — dipping Cuban bread in their café con leches. Batidos or Cuban shakes made with tropical fruits like mango, papaya, mamey and guanabana will also be on offer.
