Soy is one of the eight most common food allergies kids experience, according to Mayo Clinic Proceedings. Most grow out of it by adulthood, but until then, a soy allergy can make Halloween a minefield, because soy can be found in many foods you wouldn't expect it in, including some of your favorite chocolates and candies — like Hershey's Kisses (sob!). And on Oct. 31, you want your kid to be able to dress up, have fun, and not have to worry about whether they'll be able to actually eat any of the treats they're collecting as they make their rounds through the neighborhood.
Luckily, there are a lot of allergy-free candy options for children with soy allergies to enjoy. Of course, you can't guarantee that every house your little astronaut or pumpkin visits this year will have a stockpile of soy-free candy on hand, but you can stash away a few delicious soy-free options for your kids to dig into once they're back at home for the night. That way, the only spooky things you'll have to contend with on Halloween night are ghosts, gremlins, and witches — and not a potential allergic reaction. The best part is, these candies are so delicious, you won't be missing the soy stuff one bit.

To note: Manufacturing sites and standards can always change. Be extra diligent and read the labels of the above candies carefully to ensure the ingredients on the treats haven't changed and that no warnings on the packaging call out usage of manufacturing equipment shared with soy. If you're unsure if a candy is safe, best practice is to skip that treat.
