Who doesn't love a hot, salty, crunchy bowl of popcorn fresh out of the microwave? Mmmmm, it's the best smell, wafting through your home as it pops. But once you're done, you've probably noticed the smell of popcorn can linger on your appliance for a long time. And if you burned it, forget about it — you'll be smelling that for weeks (months!).
According to design and home decor website Hunker (which aside from featuring genius home hacks also offers major interior decoration eye candy), there are a couple of things you can do to clean your microwave of the odor.
How to Use Vinegar to Clean a Microwave
Hunker suggests you fill a glass measuring cup with one cup of water and a few tablespoons of white vinegar, then microwave the mixture for 90 seconds (or until you see it start to boil). Leave the door closed for a few minutes, letting the steam collect in the microwave and wipe down
How to Use Lemon Water to Clean a Microwave
Pour in 1/2 cup of water into a glass container or bowl. Slice a lemon and squeeze the juice from it into the water, then place the entire lemon in. Microwave for 90 to 120 seconds, until the water begins to steam. Leave the door closed for a few minutes, letting the steam collect in the microwave, and wipe down.
