He might be the star of the upcoming Lion King live-action reboot, but Donald Glover was still a little nervous about working alongside Beyoncé. In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, the 34-year-old actor and musical artist opened up about the "intimidating" and "special" experience.
"We started recording some stuff and it's, you know, it's a little intimidating from my point of view," Glover said. In the reboot, which is currently in the early stages of production, Glover will be portraying Simba, while Beyoncé will costar as Nala. Glover added that he's cherished watching Beyoncé at work. "Just hearing her do it, it's been like, 'Man, this is a really special thing,'" he said.
Despite his nervousness, Glover said he's comforted by how widely loved the original Lion King is. "It's probably the safest thing because everybody who's involved is a fan, and everybody who is involved knows it really well," he said. Also, he didn't have to do too much memorizing. Glover said, "They're like, 'So here are the lyrics,' and I'm like, 'I know the lyrics! Don't worry.'"
