Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding cake is yet another example of how the royal couple is continuing to break tradition. Kensington Palace announced in March that Claire Ptak of Violet Bakery had been chosen to create a lemon elderflower cake for the couple "that will incorporate the bright flavors of spring." Though royals usually opt for a more traditional fruit cake, the floral cake is to be decorated with buttercream and seasonal flowers.
Known-foodie Meghan originally became familiar with Claire's baking when she interviewed the chef for her former blog, The Tig. The Californian-raised baker, who is known for using organic and seasonal ingredients, will take on the bake in Violet Bakery, based in East London. One look at Claire's cakes leaves no explanation necessary as to why the royal couple have chosen her for they honor. They've even been given the Nigella Lawson stamp of approval.
Good choice!
