Meghan Markle Will Be the First Royal Bride to Ever Do This at Her Wedding

Meghan Markle has been a strong advocate for women's rights since she was a child, so it shouldn't come as a shock that she's planning to make a bold feminist statement at her wedding to Prince Harry on Saturday. According to CNN, the former Suits actress has chosen to begin her wedding procession down the aisle of St. George's Chapel alone.

Meghan will first walk down the aisle of the chapel nave without an escort, and she'll then be accompanied by her bridesmaids and pageboys once she gets to the West Door. Prince Charles will join Meghan when she gets to the Quire (where all the royal guests will be seated) and will walk her to the altar, but instead of giving her away, he'll stand back as Meghan makes her way over to Harry.

Meghan reportedly came up with the entire wedding procession plan herself, though she initially intended to have her father, Thomas, walk her down the aisle. Unfortunately, Thomas will not be in attendance as he's currently recovering from his recent heart surgery. This will mark the first time any royal bride has ever walked down the aisle of her wedding without an escort.
