The Whiskey Sour is a classic cocktail made with whiskey, lemon juice, and sugar (and, in some recipes, a bit of egg white), often garnished with an orange slice and/or maraschino cherry. With careful study and contemplation, you may be able to guess which of those ingredients is responsible for the “sour” label. There are, of course countless variations on this theme, some of which have different names (like Boston Sour and Stone Sour), but as those experienced in the mixological arts know, names are arbitrary and the only thing that separates a good recipe from a bad recipe is whether you like it. If you like whiskey at least a little bit, you’ll probably enjoy a whiskey sour, and August 25 is the day designated by the Powers That Be to do so. Cheers!
