"Never ask me for my drink order," says 21 Seeds co-founder and CEO Kat Hantas. "I will painstakingly outline exactly how I would like my cocktail made, and if it's not right, I have no problem sending it back. Something less than perfect is not worth the calories." Kat created 21 Seeds tequila with the dream team of her sister and best friend, and they have a shared mission to make drinking tequila as approachable as a glass of wine or beer. The three women also believe a cocktail recipe needs to be simple and easy to make.

When crafting a cocktail, Kat says her goal is to add the fewest ingredients to smooth out the alcohol taste while imparting a hint of flavor. That care is why she started infusing tequila — the brand's standout offering — in the first place. "The infusion does a lot of the heavy lifting in smoothing out the tequila and imparting that hint of base flavor while adding an incredible scent, and so much of what you taste is what you smell. That allows me to add very little, which equals a great tasting cocktail without the guilt."

Having tried the Spicy Skinnyseed margarita — which has just three ingredients (plus ice) and is a flavor balance of cucumber, lime, and jalapeño — at the POPSUGAR office, I can attest I felt no guilt. The recipe is subtle and refreshing: a classic margarita with a fresh and spicy twist, and without heaps of added agave or sugar. It's simple perfection. You can pick up a bottle of 21 Seeds at BevMo! in California or order it online to make this recipe for any given margarita Monday.

Ingredients

1.5 oz 21 Seeds Cucumber Jalapeño Tequila 1/4 oz fresh lime juice 1/4 oz simple syrup

Directions

Place all ingredients into shaker with 1.5 cups of ice. Shake 30 seconds (totally underrated and makes the cocktail), pour into a glass. Garnish with a lime and/or cucumber slice and serve.

Optional:

Rub rim of glass with lime wedge, then salt the rim. Add club soda to make it a margarita spritz.
