The Icebergs pool at Sydney's Bondi Beach emerges out of dream. The massive saltwater pool and adjacent kiddie pool appear as you walk north along Bondi's coastal trail, with waves crashing over the sides. That's actually how the pool is filled, by seawater, and as you swim, you may feel the waves crashing into your face as you come up for air.
I knew I wanted to visit this mythical, blue-green pool as soon as I booked a December getaway to Australia. I had seen the pool all over Instagram. Chances are you have too, if you follow travel publications or jet-setting friends. Scroll through the pool Instagram geotag and you'll find seemingly endless photos of beautiful water and people. But lucky for visitors like me, it's actually easy to access the pool, which is part of a club. You just have to pay a small fee. Here are the details.
Entry Cost:
Adult: $5 USD Children: $3.50 USD Spectator: $3.50 USDOpening Hours:
Monday to Friday: 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Saturday to Sunday: 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.The pool closes for cleaning on Thursdays. It's actually a fun sight to see it empty and one local fashion brand recently held a fashion show using the empty pool as its runway. There are also food and drink options at Icerbergs, and we came back for a sunset cocktail hour overlooking beautiful Bondi Bay. If you haven't been, it's time to add Icebergs to your bucket list.
