This Wireless Toothbrush Is My Favorite Innovation of the Year

This may sound weird, but I have a thing for fancy oral care. Let me explain: I love special toothpaste that feels as thoughtfully formulated as my skin-care routine (hi, Aesop Wasabi Toothpaste) and floss that makes me *actually* look forward to committing to it every single day (greetings, Cocofloss). As you might guess, I'm also a fan of *luxury* toothbrushes, which sounds straight-up annoying to admit, but I think they're a good investment. After all, if you purchase products that'll make you more inclined to take extra-good care of your teeth, what's the harm in that? So when the new oral-care brand Mode offered to let me test its supposedly game-changing wireless(!) Mode Electric Toothbrush ($165), you can best bet that I was game. Check out my honest review of the high-tech toothbrush ahead.

What I Like About This Toothbrush

One of my pet peeves about electric toothbrushes is that they often take up a lot of counter space, especially if you leave them on the charger. Others require batteries, and as someone who always misplaces mine, I can't be trusted with actually replacing them. I've found that Mode has solved both of these woes: its charging dock plugs into an outlet port, and the toothbrush attaches to it magnetically. Oh, and it doubles as a chic nightlight, because why not?

It also certainly helps that both components are really sleek. Both the toothbrush itself and the dock are sleek and black, which blends in with my bathroom decor perfectly. As for how it cleans, I'm no dentist, but I quite literally jumped a little when I pressed the "on" button for the first time. This baby is powerful, quietly operating at 38,000 brush strokes per minute, and it turns off after two minutes (which is the recommended amount of time you brush your teeth twice daily, according to the American Dental Association).

Finally, I discovered by accident that the charger rotates so that you can dock your brush vertically or horizontally. This is a game changer for when you need to plug in your hair straightener, blow dryer — you name it.

Unlike other high-end toothbrushes, this toothbrush only features one mode, which "is all you need for a super clean mouth," the brand writes on its website. And they're not wrong. I've previously owned multimode toothbrushes and found that I would stick to just the two-minute brush mode and rarely change it up.

If you're considering upgrading your oral-care routine with this toothbrush, entertain purchasing the brand's subscription model. How it works is that they'll send you a new brush head every three months so that you don't have to manually add one to your cart whenever you're in need of a replacement.

Who This Toothbrush Is Best For

This toothbrush is best for those who, like me, appreciate thoughtfully designed oral-care products that make your life easier and make your tooth-brushing routine more enjoyable.

Additional Details

The toothbrush is waterproof. This toothbrush is made with an aluminum handle with rubber upper. Fully charged, you can get 30 days of battery life. The nightlight (magically) turns on when the dock senses the room getting darker.
