West Side Story Is Returning to Movie Theaters This Summer, but There's a Catch

West Side Story premiered in 1961, but it will never, ever get old. Giving you another chance to see the original on the big screen, the movie musical will return to theaters for two days only on June 24 and 27 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. local time. The exciting rerelease is a part of the TCM Big Screen Classics series by Turner Classic Movies and Fathom Events. The West Side Story screenings will take place at more than 600 theaters nationwide, and you can score tickets in advance online through Fathom Events starting on Friday, April 20.

The Oscar-winning film takes inspiration from Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet and turns the Montague-Capulet battle into a feud between a white American gang, the Jets, and a Puerto Rican gang, the Sharks, set in New York City in the '60s. During the special screenings this Summer, it'll be shown in its original widescreen aspect ratio, and each screening will also include its original midfilm intermission. There's no better way to prepare yourself for Steven Spielberg's reboot, so mark your calendars, West Side Story fans!
