Alligators aren't necessarily something that I fear on a day-to-day basis, which can mostly be chalked up to the fact that I don't live in Florida. However, they've since rocketed to the top of my list of nightmare fuel after watching the trailer for Crawl.
The film stars Kaya Scodelario as a woman named Haley Keller, who is tasked with helping her father evacuate before a Category 5 hurricane decimates their town. Unfortunately, when she arrives at his flooding home she discovers that he's been horridly wounded by an alligator who is casually hanging out in his basement, and who doesn't hesitate to take a chunk out of Haley, too. From there, the father-daughter team must figure out a way to survive not only a hurricane, not only an alligator, but a hurricane and MULTIPLE alligators! Not a pleasant way to spend a weekend, gotta be honest.
The upcoming horror flick is directed by The Hills Have Eyes' Alexandre Aja, and producers on board include 300's Craig Flores and Don't Breathe's Sam Raimi. Watch the trailer above and catch it when it opens in theaters on July 12.
